The season finally came to an end yesterday with the crowning of Chepstow as the Monmouthshire Building Society Youth Cricket Shield Under 15 Champions.  However, we still have the League Presentation Evening on October 14th to look forward to.

Congratulations to the Gwent Young Cricketers U12 Squad on becoming the Welsh National Champions after a convincing victory in the Final yesterday.

Also, the Monmouthshire Building Society Youth Cricket League has been completed for this year and the Final Tables can be found by pressing the League button.

Congratulations to Malpas and Newport who became, respectively, the Monmouthshire Building Society Youth Cricket Shield Under 11 and Under 13 Champions at Usk CC yesterday.  Unfortunately, the weather had the last word and the Under 15 Final had to be abandoned and will be replayed. 2nd September 2010

Congratulations to the Gwent Young Cricketers U11 Squad on becoming the Welsh National Champions this week after an exciting Final yesterday; see their page under County Boys 2010 for full details.

Unfortunately both the U14 and U5 squads couldn't emulate this success but still did well to get to the Semi Final stage.

Congratulations to the Newport U13 Squad on becoming UK National Club Champions last week.

This week sees three of our Gwent Young Cricketers teams playing in the Semi-Finals of the National Championships.  The Under 15s (Monday) and U14s (Thursday) are both playing West Glamorgan at Ynysygerwyn CC while the U11s play North East Wales at Newport on Friday.

Congratulations to the Gwent Young Cricketers U13 Squad who became the Welsh National Champions last week.

Also, good luck to the Newport U13 Squad who take part in the UK National Club Championship Finals this week.  Let's hope they can recapture the trophy they won five years ago.

Thank you for making us Millionaires!  No we haven't won the Lottery but you have given our website over 1,000,000 'hits' over the last 12 months. This is a rather technical term relating to the the total number of individual requests made to the website server.  However, we have had around 90 individuals using the site every day since the beginning of the season which is very pleasing.

I can't believe it's been 6 weeks since my last comment but, with all the cricket being played during the long dry spell, I've been too busy keeping the website up to date.  I hope you've been keeping touch but if you haven't may I refer you to the following pages:

County Boys 2010 gives you full details of the 38 matches played so far.  You will also see that the U11 squad (which also includes three girls!) is in the semi-final of the National Championships while the U14s and U15s are certain of play-off spots and possibly semi-finals if they win the their last games.  The U12s are taking part in their National Championships in Swansea this week and the U13s travel to North Wales the week after next for theirs.  County Girls 2010 records the Gwent Girls' performances in the League.  League 2010 gives the latest reports and tables while Shield 2010 shows you how this competition is working out - we are now at the semi-final stage.

The Monmouthshire Building Society Shield has now reached the Quarter-Final stage.  For a report on the Preliminary and First Rounds and latest situation with the Draw, please visit the Shield 2010 page.  Also, you will find details of the county matches that have been played on the County Boys pages as they get sent in by the county managers.

The continued good weather has seen the best start in the Monmouthshire Building Society League and Shield for years with around 100 matches being played already.  For all the latest details check on the appropriate pages.

After another cold, but fairly dry, week the League and Shield results sheets are beginning to come in so you can now check on the latest situation by visiting the appropriate pages.  We have also played a few county games, the reports of which will be appearing soon.

This week saw the pre-season meetings for our county squads.  Squad photos of those able to attend can be found on the relevant pages on the website.

Meanwhile the League and Shield competitions are now underway after a cold, but generally dry, week.  It will take a week or two before there are enough results in to produce the first tables.
