Youth Cricket League

The League has been completely reorganised this year.  The Premier Divisions have been expanded and the other Divisions reorganised purely on a geographical basis which has meant the demise of the Reserve Divisions.  The aim is to provide all players with a wider cricketing experience while reducing the time and cost of travelling. This has meant some Divisions having a small number of teams who will play each other twice whilst in the others they will play just once. The Rules have also been changed (check this out via the above button) to ensure more matches are played.  It is planned to achieve this by tightening the Rules on cancellations and changing the points system to reward teams that play, even if they lose, and penalise those who cancel for spurious reasons.  There is also an exciting change to the U15 Playing Conditions allowing for fielding restrictions and 'power plays'.  We are also introducing an email reporting system which is intended to ensure the tables are kept more up-to-date. 

This year we are experimenting with our own Play-Cricket website which can provide a lot of statistical information on player performances.  Paul Bennett is running this as a pilot using the Under 13 Premier Division.  Check it out at www.gwentjuniorleague.play-cricket.com.
