8th May
The continued poor weather has
meant a delayed start to our youth cricket season with all League,
Shield and County games called off so far. However, it's great
to report that Huw Waters tops the LV= County Championship Averages
(for both divisions), after five games, with 23 wickets at an
average of 11.04.
26th April
Forget this terrible weather the cricket
season is upon us and we'll soon be enjoying some warm sunny
weather. Well we cricketers are born optimists - we have to be
living in this country! Anyway, the Monmouthshire Building
Society Youth League and Shield Competitions start this Sunday and
there have been a number of changes to how the League is organised
and the matches played. We hope they find favour with our
players and spectators. For full details of the League Tables,
Shield Draw and changes to Rules and Conditions press the League and
Shield buttons at the top left of this page.
Our professional colleagues have been playing
for a month now and Glamorgan have already played three games.
They haven't been doing too well as a team but at least one
former Gwent Young Cricketer has got off to a good start.

Huw Waters has taken 15 wickets @ 11.60 in his
two games including a career best 7 for 53. Those of you who
were at last year's League Presentation Evening may remember he
missed most of last year with a serious injury and has spent all
winter building his strength up. It's great to see this has
paid off and we wish him a successful season.

Also at the Evening was John Glover who had a
successful end to the season and was looking forward to cementing a
place in the side this year. Unfortunately, he contracted an
illness pre-season and has not been able to play so far. We
wish him a speedy a recovery.
